Have you noticed that many famous successful men have one (fashion) thing in common? They wear the same clothes everyday. Although they are not wearing the exact same item of clothes. (that would be nasty) They are wearing a “uniform” that they have created. The uniform consists of the same color and style of shirts, pants, and shoes. You can increase your creativity and productivity by wearing this “uniform”. As a person who has worked from home for over 10 years, I decided to test out this theory.
Decreases Decision Fatigue
Decision Fatigue is the deterioration of our ability to make good decisions after a long session of decision making. Although our daily decisions are not as important as determining the fate of the free world, having too many choices can still overwhelm us. This can actually cause us to make poor decisions. By establishing a work from home uniform or wearing the same clothes, you are eliminating one decision each day. You are allowing your mind to use that time to focus on something more important.
Some of the world’s most creative and influential individuals are known to wear the same clothes. Facebook Founder Mark Zuckenberg, Apple Inventor Steve Jobs, Designer Michael Kors, President Barack Obama, Inventor Albert Einstein and many more successful people are known to wear the same clothes. By wearing the same clothes, they are allowing their brain to be more creative and productive. They are able to focus more on working and making the best decisions for their business and family. By wearing this uniform, they have eliminated the need to decide on what to wear each day. They can just focus on getting to work.

Establishes Your Signature Look
Zuckenberg is known for wearing a grey shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes. Jobs was known for wearing a black turtleneck, blue jeans, and tennis shoes. Kors wears all black. Einstein wore the same colored suit. Obama wore a blue or black suit with a blue tie. These successful men created their own signature look. When you saw them, you knew they would be wearing those items of clothes. Their signature look created a unique personality trend for them.
While deciding my work from home uniform, I opted to use the color of my business. My working uniform is a maroon colored v-neck t-shirt and charcoal yoga pants from Hanes.com. I opted for something more colorful and comfortable for my busy lifestyle as a mom, wife, business owner, and creator. Because my work from home uniform represents me and my business, it is still stylish enough to answer the door and run errands.

The Same Clothes Saves Money
I know you are probably wondering how buying 5 new shirts and 5 pants saves money. By creating this uniform, you no longer have to worry about having to buy a new belt to match an outfit or having to spend additional money on multiple shoes. Once you have purchased your outfits, the battle is over. In budgeting, the suggestion is to allocate $125 per month per person for clothes. If you apply that money towards the principle on your mortgage, car, or student loans, you can actually save on interest. You will be able to pay off that expense by years. So in addition to saving time and energy, you are actually saving money. You are using that money to increase the value of other items.

Your Clothes Will Fit Perfectly
If you are wearing the same clothes, you know your clothes will have the perfect fit. When I wake up every day, I know I’m going to look great. When I purchased my outfit online from Hanes, I used the size chart to determine my sizes. I purchased large shirts and medium pants. To my surprise, everything fits wonderfully. I am loving my uniform. It is actually more comfortable than my pajamas and the fit is perfect.
Time Saver
Because I know exactly what I am going to wear during the week, I am saving tons of time. I’ve always suggested that people should get their clothes together the night before to make your morning easier. Although that helps, you still have to wonder if the item still fits and how it will look. By wearing the same clothes, it saves even more time in the evening and morning. My night routine has actually shortened because I do not have to spend time determining what I am going to wear. I can use that time to do more important things with my family.
