10 Creative Ways to Decorate With Wallpaper

June 26, 2018 by Divine Elements of Design 25 Comments

One of my favorite trends is wallpaper. Today’s wallpaper is NOT your grandmother’s wallpaper. It’s fun, creative, and fabulous. There are so many beautiful patterns and textures to choose from. The possibilities are endless. Wallpaper can take your plain walls to the next level. Check out these 10 creative ways to decorate your home or office with wallpaper.

Create a Stunning Accent Wall

Although accent walls are not a new trend, people are opting to upgrade this notion by using wallpaper instead of paint. Accent walls using wallpaper is an excellent opportunity to be creative with various textures and designs without going overboard. Sometimes we find the perfect wallpaper, but feel it is too busy to use for an entire room. By using it on an accent wall, you can have the best of both world.

Wallpaper Lined Book Shelf

Divine Elements of Design

I love the idea of using wallpaper on bookshelves. It allows the accessories and other items on the book shelf to pop. Applying the wallpaper to your book shelf is a simple technique. It is also an easy way to upgrade a boring dull shelf into a beautiful and unique piece of furniture.

Adding Wallpaper to a Ceiling

In decorating, many people forget about the fifth wall, the ceiling. Utilize this space with great design. Wallpapering or painting your ceiling adds depth and dimension to a room. Our eyes are drawn to look up. There is no better way to make great use of your ceiling then to add beautiful wallpaper. The ceiling can be anything from an ornate pattern to a subtle solid print. You can decide how bold you want to be.

A home should be traveled. It should have a sense of where you've been and where you are going. @SCoulterAssoc Click To Tweet

Powder Room

The powder room in your home is often only used by your guests. Why not make this room spectacular? Stacy Coulter of Stacy Coulter and Associates feels your powder bathroom should be your own personal jewelry box. This room should be a direct reflection of your inner personality.

An Acoustics Wall

Consider installing acoustical wallpaper to improve the sound quality in a space. It can also be used to help limit the amount of outside noise coming into a room. This technique is beautiful as well as functional.

On a Paneled Wall

ways to decorate with wallpaper

The use of paneled walls have also come along way. I can remember those dark and drag wood paneling. Now, we can use wallpaper to spice up a paneled wall. This is a great option to add texture and contrast.

If you truly love something, buy it!! You'll be able to find the perfect spot for it in your home. @SCoulterAssoc Click To Tweet

Create a Backsplash

ways to decorate with wallpaper

Beautiful tile does not have to be the only form of backsplash. Consider using a detailed wallpaper to create your backsplash design. This is a less permanent and even easier way to decorate. You can also change the look as often as you want for a fraction of the cost.

Faux Wood Venires

Do you like the idea of decorating with wood, but don’t want to actually use wood? Consider using wood venire wall paper. You can have the great look of wood without actually having to use real wood. This is a great and easy way to achieve the desired wood look you want.

Staircase Design

www.decoratorsvoice.com

I absolutely love the idea of using wallpaper to decorate staircases. Each back of each step can be designed with a coordinating print to compliment the room’s accents or a completely different look. Either way, wallpapered stairs are an unique and creative design trend.

Large Mural

Beautiful murals have been an excellent design choice for centuries. I love the idea of using a large overprint wall paper to create a mural. It can give a more unique and creative look to the space.

I really do appreciate your tips for decorating with wallpaper. Sadly, the previous tenants in our home put up wallpaper that looks like somebody threw up on the walls. We’d like to get help in removing it soon.

Really impressed by your creative ideas. Those wallpapers would look stunning in any house… I particularly liked the faux wood one though, because I really like wooden interiors and other wooden decorations. And using faux wood wallpapers can actually make it look so good without actually having to use wood at all. That is amazing! Also the stairs look very cool. Keep up the good content.
