Skylight Calendar Review: Is It Worth It?

February 13, 2026 by Divine Elements of Design Leave a Comment

If you’ve ever felt like your household schedule is running you instead of the other way around, you are not alone. Between appointments, school events, activities, errands, content creation, and everyday life, it can feel like there’s always something to remember. And somehow, the responsibility usually falls on one person.

That’s exactly why I decided to try the Skylight Calendar, a digital wall calendar designed to help families stay organized by keeping schedules visible and easy to manage. I recently installed mine as part of a home organization project I’m calling my Skylight Calendar Command Center, and today I’m sharing my honest review, what I love, what to consider before buying, and whether I think it’s worth it.

Let’s get into it.

What Is the Skylight Calendar?

The Skylight Calendar is a digital touchscreen calendar that mounts on your wall (or can sit on a stand). It syncs with popular calendars like Google Calendar and Apple Calendar so you can see everyone’s schedule in one place. Instead of relying on paper calendars, sticky notes, or reminders scattered throughout your phone, the Skylight Calendar keeps everything visible and centralized.

Think of it as a modern family command center tool, especially helpful if you have kids, a busy household, or a packed work schedule.

Why I Wanted a Command Center Calendar?

As someone who loves planning and organization, I’m a huge fan of traditional paper planners. I still use my Divine Life & Home Planner, but I also wanted something that could support my entire household.

The reality is: not everyone checks your paper planner.

I needed a solution that would help my family stay on the same page without me constantly repeating reminders. I wanted something that made daily life easier while still looking stylish enough to fit into my home decor.

The Easiest Way To Add Events

Another feature I really love is how easy it is to add events without manually typing everything in. With the Skylight Calendar, you can upload a photo of an invitation, appointment card, flyer, or even your child’s school calendar, and it helps you quickly turn that information into scheduled events. This is such a time-saver because instead of digging through papers, emails, or text messages, you can simply upload the details and get everything organized in one place. For busy families, this makes staying on top of appointments and activities so much easier. It reduces the chances of forgetting important dates.

My Favorite Features of the Skylight Calendar (That Make It Worth It)

When I started using the Skylight Calendar, I thought it would just be a wall calendar. But it’s much more than that. Here are the features I’ve loved most:

🔹 1. Family Sync & Color-Coded Events

Each person in your household can have their own color. That means at a glance you can see who has what going on. No guessing and no yelling across the house to find someone’s schedule.

🔹 2. Weekly + Monthly Views

Seeing the whole week at once has honestly changed how I plan.

  • I can plan meals around busier nights.
  • Schedule appointments around family events.
  • Shift things without running to multiple calendars.

It’s such a time saver.

🔹 3. Sidekick Mode (Shared Planning)

Skylight’s Sidekick feature lets family members add or edit events right from their phone. And it syncs automatically. No more “I forgot to tell you” moments, because everyone can contribute.

This feels huge for families and teams alike.

🔹 4. To-Do List Integration

I love that I can keep my to-do lists next to my schedule. Instead of random sticky notes or separate apps, everything lives in the same place:
✔ daily tasks
✔ things to finish this week
✔ content planning to-dos

It makes staying on track so much easier.

🔹 5. Meal Planning + Routines

You can add routines and recurring events — which I use to plan:
🌟 dinner menus
🌟 weekly reset days
🌟 laundry days
🌟 workout blocks

Having meals built into the calendar has helped me avoid “What’s for dinner?” stress.

🔹 6. Intuitive Touchscreen + Easy Setup

The touchscreen is easy to use for all ages. Even kids can swipe to see their schedule. Setup took just minutes, and once it’s mounted, it feels purposeful. Not just like another thing on the wall.

🔹 7. Home Command Center Compatibility

This isn’t just a calendar, it’s the foundation of a command center system.
Pairing the Skylight Calendar with a simple visual routine strategy makes your whole home run smoother. It’s become the hub for life, and not just dates.

What I’m Using It For in My Home?

Right now, I’m using the Skylight Calendar for:

  • Appointments and important dates
  • Meal planning
  • School and activity schedules
  • Reminders and family planning
  • Content planning for my business
  • Weekly routine structure
  • Dog sitting assignments

It helps me stay organized as a mom and business owner, and it’s also a helpful way to keep my household running smoothly.

Pros and Cons of the Skylight Calendar

No review is complete without an honest look at the good and the “consider before you buy.

Pros

✅ Keeps schedules visible for the whole household
✅ Reduces the mental load of being the “family reminder person”
✅ Easy to read and simple to use
✅ Great for families, busy homes, and entrepreneurs
✅ Modern look that fits into home decor
✅ Weekly view makes planning easier

Cons

❌ It is an investment (not a budget item)
❌ Requires WiFi to sync properly
❌ You still have to keep it updated for it to work
❌ Placement matters (you want a visible location with minimal glare)

Does the Skylight Calendar Work for a Command Center?

Yes—and I would even say it was made for that purpose.

A command center doesn’t have to be cluttered or filled with paper. My goal is to create a command center space that feels elevated, clean, and functional.

One thing I learned while working on this project is that small details matter. For example, I added a doorbell chime cover to hide an eyesore on the wall, and it instantly made the space look more polished. It doesn’t interfere with the sound at all, but visually it made a big difference.

That’s the direction I’m going with my command center makeover: functional systems that still look beautiful.

Is the Skylight Calendar Worth It?

In my opinion, yes… especially if you’re someone who:

  • Manages a busy household
  • Wants a central calendar everyone can see
  • Struggles with missed appointments or schedule confusion
  • Wants to create a home command center
  • Loves organization but needs help with consistency

The Skylight Calendar won’t magically make your home organized, but it gives you a powerful tool to build a system that works.

And when you combine it with routines and planning habits, it can truly help your home run smoother.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I’m very happy with the Skylight Calendar and I love the direction my command center project is going. I’m excited to keep building out the space and sharing the progress.

If you’ve been looking for a way to get more organized without sacrificing style, the Skylight Calendar is definitely worth considering.
