At the beginning of each year, many people always say “New Year, New You”. Many people also make New Years Resolutions, which is typically a “to-do” list for the first week of the year. Instead of trying to create resolutions and a new you, let’s concentrate on doing a complete reset. Use these seven easy and effective ways to reset your life and home for 2023.
Purchase and Use a New Planner
A new blank and empty planner for the new year is an excellent opportunity to plan and organize your life. A total of 12 empty monthly and 52 empty weeks of pages are ready to be filled with goals and plans. If you haven’t purchased your planner, I suggest you check out my 2023 Divine Life & Home planner. In addition to being a planner, it contains a cleaning and decluttering schedule, motivational quotes, financial planning, and goal setting worksheets. The planner can be purchased on Amazon here.
"If you Fail to Plan, You are Planning to Fail." – Benjamin Franklin Click To TweetReevaluate The Previous Year Goals
Before you can set your goals and plans for the new year, use this time to reevaluate the previous year goals. What were your wins and what things were not successful? What were the goals that you can bring forward to the new year? Is there anything you can do from last year to help with the new year.
Rearrange Your Furniture & Accessories
You can give your home a total makeover just by rearranging your existing furniture and accessories. Minor updates can change and refresh your home. Don’t feel obligated to buy anything new if you don’t want you. The vase in the living room may look beautiful and new in the dining room. Throw pillows aren’t married to a particular piece of furniture. Feel free to move them to a new location.
Reset With a Deep Clean of Your Home
The start of the year is a good time to do a deep clean of your home. There are many tasks which should be done annually or quarterly. Use the beginning of the year to get on a good schedule. A cleaning and decluttering schedule is listed in my 2023 Divine Life and Home Planner. You can clean yourself or hire a professional.

Declutter Your Phone Photo Library
If you are like most people, you may have tons of duplicate or unwanted photos in your phone or computer. Go though your album and delete all of the pictures you no longer need. This will free up storage space and also make it easier to find the pictures you want.
Declutter Your Email Inbox
Start the year by cleaning your email inbox. Most people have hundreds, if not thousands of unopened emails. Don’t let the over abundance of emails to overwhelm you. Clean your email and unsubscribe to unwanted emails list. Set a goal of having an “inbox zero.” That means you have zero emails in your inbox.
Rotate & Purge Your Files
If you have a paper filing system such as Freedom Filer, the new year is the time to rotate your even and odd years. If you have traditional paper filing system, you still should rotate and purge your files. It is now time to make room for the new year’s files.
