I may love pinterest as much as, if not more, than the next person. I have multiple public and private boards. Anytime I create a project, I go to Pinterest to see if the project has already been mastered. I use Pinterest as a Search Engine. Although I appreciate and respect Pinterest, I refuse to fall down the Pinterest rabbit hole. There is a fine line between looking for an example and becoming completely overwhelmed. You can not be too hard on yourself when it comes to Pinterest. Although we may strive to be the perfect Stepford Wife or Mom, you can not allow Pinterest to define you. Some projects are just unattainable, and I am okay with that. The following are 5 reasons your Pinterest Project Failed.
Some Pinterest Projects May Appear Easy When They Aren’t
Many Pinterest projects may appear much easier than they actually are. Pinterest is a digital pin board which is suppose to provide useful information. The results are to seam easy to complete. If projects appeared too hard or difficult, Pinterest would not be as popular as it is. If you are completing a project and feel it is becoming a “Pinterest Fail” don’t feel bad. Some projects are much harder than they appear.
Some Pinterest Projects Are Completed By Professionals
You should view Pinterest projects as a reality show. It highlights good and often picture perfect results. If you’ve completed a project and didn’t like the outcome, don’t be too hard on yourself. The Pinterest project could have been completed by a professional. Many bloggers may write posts on how easy a project is, but have used a professional service to complete it. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from a professional if you see a project you want to complete. I’ve used Pinterest to give me ideas on a project. I can take those ideas to my professional staff to complete the task for me.

All Pinterest Projects Aren’t DIYs
Some Pinterest projects just aren’t actually DIYs. The project may require a whole team or commercial items for its completion. Don’t be discouraged if you are unable to obtain the necessary tools or items for your project.
Some Supplies Aren’t Easy to Find
Just like in gourmet cooking, your ingredients or supplies are the most important step. I’ve noticed many Pinterest projects require items that are not easily acquirable. Maybe you need a miter saw or a special blade to make the necessary cut of wood. Maybe you need a special serger to create the pillow for your living room. If you find yourself unable to find the products, don’t panic. Search your local Facebook groups, tool rental shops, and specialty stores to find the tool and supplies.
It’s Less Expensive to Buy The Completed Item
Although I am an Interior Design Blogger, I do not consider myself a big time DIYer. I may DIY minor items, but I prefer to purchase the completed product. For the novice DIYer, it may actually be less expensive to purchase the completed item. There is nothing wrong with that. You don’t have to feel obliged to be the perfect DIYer. It is okay to be a “Buy It Yourselfer”

Love this. Believe me I’ve had my fair share of Pinterest fails. I also think that some people have practiced so many times before sharing their ideas, so we can’t be too hard on ourselves.

That is so true. Many of the completed projects have been practiced many times before they showed us the finished results. You are right, we can not be too hard on ourselves.

As someone who loves Pinterest too and re-creating the crafts I see, this was a great article. I’m just now getting into DIY and I was getting worried that maybe my hands just weren’t crafty enough lol. It really isn’t as easy and fun as it looks sometimes, but I will keep these tips in mind!
