Fall is the season that marks the start of the cold weather. It’s the time when you want to curl up in your cozy blanket and have a cup of hot cocoa in your hand. But what if you could enjoy this cozy weather outside?
With a bit of creativity and effort, you can transform your backyard for fall! Use these seven techniques to make the cozy and snug outdoor space of your dreams.
Install an Entertainment Space
In the summer, you might go outside to tan or swim. Fall doesn’t offer as many backyard activities. That’s why you’ll want to install a great entertainment space that makes you want to spend more time outside this season.
Build a deck off the patio door or install one of the popular types of pergolas for your outdoor space. Then, add a fire pit to enjoy brisk fall nights. Any of these options will create an intimate space for either the daytime or night.
Include Comfortable Seating
The next technique for creating a cozy and snug outdoor space for fall is to invest in comfortable seating. Look for options that are soft, inviting, and relaxing. Hammocks will gently sway in the breeze, outdoor couches are perfect for sinking into plush cushions, and fluffy outdoor chairs are ideal for unwinding after a long day.
Add Some Fall Warmth
Your to-do list should include adding warmth to your outdoor space. Candles, warm lighting, a patio heater, or heat lamps are all wonderful additions. The cozy flickering lights and warm waves of heat will keep you feeling toasty in the chilly weather.
Use Rugs
Rugs can effortlessly define a space, both indoors and outdoors. Place outdoor rugs on the deck, beneath the outdoor sofas and chairs, or under dining tables. The strategic placement of each rug will instantly elevate the space and your comfort level.
Incorporate Fall Pillows and Blankets
A soft, snuggly blanket is a comfortable and stylish addition to your outdoor seating. Drape it over a chair or sofa for an inviting look and a handy layer when the temperature drops.
Complement the blankets with ample outdoor pillows. They provide extra comfort and add a pop of color and pattern to your outdoor decor.
You might also like to add a storage bench to put away these items. This storage will keep the items protected so that they’re always clean and ready to use.
Add Faux Fall Plants
Fall isn’t the ideal season to plant something new. An alternative is to find faux plants that add warmth and make the space feel lively. Choose artificial plants, such as hanging eucalyptus, a Ficus tree, a snake plant, or a palm tree, to fit your backyard’s design. The plants will remain bright and cheerful through every season.
Place Pumpkins Around The Yard
From October first and forward, pumpkins are the symbol of fall. You’ll find them embroidered on pillows, printed on blankets, and pasted on every piece of home decor you could imagine. So why not add the real thing into your backyard space? Place all types of pumpkins and gourds around the yard for a lovely decorative finish.
