Planning your child’s Olympic themed birthday party doesn’t have to be hard. Have fun and think outside of the box. Let’s take advantage of the 2021 Olympics in Japan to serve as an inspiration for this party.
Select the Perfect Venue
Your Olympic themed birthday party is only as good as the venue. Opt for a gym or location which will allow the guests the opportunity to run, play, and have fun. Check your local speciality gyms such as gymnastics locations, community centers, or private gyms. Many of these establishments offer rental fees less than a traditional party location.
Olympic Party Decorations
Decide if you want to go with the traditional USA colors, the official Olympic colors, or your child’s signature colors. You can do a combination of all. Consider having the table decorated in the Olympic color with accents of the USA or your home country’s colors. Your child can wear a personalized shirt or tank top in their favorite color. Amazon and Party City have a large variety of Olympic Party supplies.
Food and Drinks
The food and drink options are very important for a party. Since the kids will be super busy and having fun, make sure there are plenty of beverages available. Bottle water, Gatorade, and juices will be great to avoid dehydration. You can purchase Gatorade drinks in the color of the Olympics. Feel free to add your own labels to the beverages. As far as food, keep it simple. Pizza, nachos, hotdogs, and cake and ice cream are all easy to make and eat. If you want to be extra creative, you can make items based upon the different countries participating in the Olympics. Mexican salsa, Jamaican jerk chicken, and French onion dip are just a few examples. You can place the country flags next to them on the food table.

Olympic Party Invitations
Have fun and be creative with the design of your invitations. I recommend using Canva to make your invitations. Canva has thousands of templates and designs. You can even upload a picture of your child for the invitations. Once completed, the invitations can be printed, mailed, emailed, or texted to your guest list. You can also make the party a private event on Facebook and invite your friends and family.
Goody Bags
The party is not complete without the goofy bags given to guests at the end of the party. To kids, these goody bags are like the Hollywood swag bags given at awards shows.
