Although we love the look of high heel shoes, politely ask your guests to remove them when walking on your hard wood floors. The tips of the heels can damage your floors.

Maybe putting a nice sign before they enter. I don’t think I could directly ask someone to take off their shoes.
I hadn’t thought of the damage I am likely doing by running through the house in my heels as I am rushing out to work… I have so enjoyed reading your blog! In fact, I’ve nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award. You can read all about it (and accept your award!) here: http://thecupcakemile.com/2014/10/12/one-lovely-blog-award/
I am really glad that you made me aware of this tip! My wife and I just got some hard wood flooring installed, and we really want to make sure that it stays in good shape. I had no idea that heels could do that much damage. I’ll definitely keep this in my mind next time I invite some people over.

Putting a nice sign is a good idea. And having slippers or something to offer guests would be nice also.
