Decor ottomans may be as functional as they are beautiful. You can successfully use an ottoman in any room in your home. An ottoman is a great decor item and resource in your bedroom. Be creative and think outside of the box. Don’t feel confined to the standard uses for ottomans.
- Nightstand – Opt to use ottomans instead of the traditional night stands on the side of your bed. This will provide a softer more relaxed visual effect.
- Purse/Shoe Holder – If you are limited in closet or storage space, a storage ottoman can be used to store your purses, shoes, and other accessories.
- Filing Cabinet – Do you need a place to store your important documents but do not want to use a metal cabinet in your bedroom? You can put your important documents inside of a storage ottoman. There are several filing systems which can fit comfortably in the ottoman. No one will be the wiser.
- Extra Linen – If you are one of the many people who only maintain a minimum amount of linen in your home, you can keep the extra linen in the storage ottoman which is at the end of your bed.
- Foot Stool – You no longer have to settle for a traditional foot stool. Use a sturdy ottoman within your room’s color scheme.
- Coffee Table – Instead of a traditional coffee table next to your bedroom sitting area, use an ottoman with a tray as a coffee table.
- Extra Seating – You don’t have to fill your bedroom with chairs. Use an ottoman for additional seating.
- Baby Supplies – Keep baby changing items handy. Disguise those extra baby Pampers, wipes, and blankets by keeping them in a decorative storage.
- Dog Bed – Your fur baby would love his own little mini-bed in your room in the form of an ottoman.

O h love this idea! I actually was looking for an ottaman for my youngest toys so she could use it for a “chair” and put her toys storage. Thanks for sharing I’m SURE I will convince Hubby we really DO need one.

I definitely wish I had room in my bedroom for an ottoman because they really make putting on socks/shoes/etc that much easier! Plus they always look really nice!

The Master bedroom is the one room we have not DONE anything to. There is a bed and mountains of laundry (my husband is decluttering his wardrobe) and otherwise not much. In it’s current state I’d be afraid that an ottoman would be just misused as another dumping ground for clothes. But in my dream bedroom I would love to have one for lines and to just kick up my feet after a long exhausting day. Love your ideas!

I’d love a storage ottoman for the end of the bed!

I totally use an ottoman as one of my bedside tables. It’s the perfect additional storage spot to keep things hidden away and doesn’t show all the clutter that could be around. I have another one in my living room that is used as extra shoe storage.

We have used ours for baby toiletries / wipes / etc and now it’s used for linen – so handy to have a bit of extra storage in the room without ruining the look of it.

I actually really love the idea of using an ottoman for linen storage. Our extra sheets are currently sitting in this funny little wall cutout in our hallway that has shelves, but I would much rather store it in our bedroom. Now I’m going to be on the lookout for a cute storage ottoman for the foot of our bed!
