The bedroom is the most important room in your home. It is the place where we retire after a long day. It’s important to keep our bedroom clean and organized. Many of us badly crave for the moment we can cozy up in our comfy bed and lull into dreams, but a bedroom is much more than that. It’s the place you get dressed for work, glam up for a special date, spend quality time with your partner, or just be with yourself.
In this post, we will talk about 12 simple organizing tips for your bedroom to make more space for your comfort, convenience, snuggles, and dressing-up sessions.
So, let’s get started!
#1. Make Use of Under Bed Storage
There’s a huge storage space under the bed that can be used to keep the clutter out of sight. This space is widely underutilized because some people think that things become inaccessible when kept underneath the bed. I suggest using wooden or plastic baskets on wheels to make it easier to pull them out when needed. These baskets can be used to store things like shoes, bags, books, clothes, beddings, toys, etc.
#2. Keep Your Closet Organized
Your bedroom is not completely organized if your closet has clothes falling off of the racks. This can be a reason for panic and stress every morning. This not only disrupts the room but also messes with your calm. Tidy up the closet by getting rid of the clothes you no longer need or wear, separate the bottoms, tops, dresses, ties, socks, undergarments and accessories. Having a separate section for each will help you get dressed faster and without losing your mind.
#3. Have a Blanket Ladder or Rack
Do you use a different blanket for sleeping, snuggling, napping, or reading a book? With a ton of blankets, quilts, and throws around, the bedroom can look quite messy. I suggest considering a blanket ladder that you can keep in the corner to keep them well organized and easily accessible when needed. This will make it easier to make the bed and also get it ready for sleeping at night.
#4. Baskets for Cushions and Pillows
If you are like me then you will like to have a lot of pillows and cushions on the bed to make it look as comfortable and cozy as possible. However, this comes at the cost of making your bedroom look untidy. I have a small solution to have your pillows and make your room look tidier. Invest in a big basket you can push under the bed and use it to store all those extra pillows when you are not using them.

#5. Make All Furniture Pieces Count
Use a small nightstand instead of a bulky table to take less space, or you may use your dresser as a nightstand. If you can find a nightstand with drawers then this is a bonus as you can use this extra storage area to keep books, mobile charger, and other essential things you might need when you are relaxing on the bed. If you have a small bedroom, invest in a compact and slim dresser with drawers where you may store some clothes or undergarments, or shoes.
#6. Two Hampers in the Bedroom
This is an important trick to keep dirty and worn clothes away from the bed, chair, or floor so that your bedroom looks more organized and neat. You may keep the hamper inside the closet or next to it. I suggest using a double hamper with two separate sections that can be used for dirty laundry clothes and worn clothes that can be used again before going to the laundry. This will also help in sorting out your laundry task.
#7. Build a Headboard with Storage
Create a multipurpose headboard that can be used to store several things that otherwise stay scattered on the table. Building small shelves/ racks on the headboard can give you separate spaces to keep the books you love reading at bedtime, photo frames, alarm clock, mobile phone, Alexa, charger, and so on.

#8. Organize Your Shoes on Rods
Do you have a fetish for shoes? I know people who have shoes of all colors and styles, but they can’t find them when they really need it. So, what’s the use of stocking up and having a mountain of shoes when you can’t match them with the right outfit. An easy and affordable way to organize shoes is to install a few tension rods in the corner of your bedroom and use them for hanging shoes.
#9. Use a Special Garment Rack
If your closet lacks the space or you hate cramming up all your favorite suits together then invest in a separate garment rack. It can serve two useful purposes – keep garments organized and let you show off your possessions too! Install a rod at one corner of the bedroom to hang your favorite garments and you may also use the space beneath to keep hiking boots, walking shoes, and so on.

#10. Roll Up the Bath Towels
Do you have the habit of hanging towels on the door or leaving them on the bed? Let the towels dry up after a bath and then roll them up neatly to store away. Make a small corner inside the closet to keep rolled bath towels of everyone in the family and you will have a more organized bedroom.
#11. Display or Hang Artwork
If you are a lover of artwork, hang them on the walls to beautify the interiors. Avoid keeping them on the nightstand, dresser, table, bookcases, or wardrobes as they take up a lot of space and make the bedroom look crowded. Make sure the floor space looks less crowded as possible to get a more streamlined look.

#12. A Small Bedroom Garbage Bin
Those tissue papers, bits of paper, chocolate wrappers, and other dirty things need a separate place, so keep a small compact garbage bin in the bedroom. It should look good and match your bedroom décor. Avoid those bulky bins that take up too much space as they would look out of place and unnecessary in a bedroom.

Such great tips! Thank you – I picked up some ideas for myself. By the way, even though textiles add comfort to the bedroom, I would not advise overdoing it. After I removed the extra pillows from the bed and cute stuffed toys and replaced the large carpet with a small bedside rug that is easy to wash, the air quality in my bedroom improved significantly. All those items we like to add to our bedroom tend to accumulate lots of dust and allergens and cause poor indoor air quality, which can provoke headaches and fatigue.
