Many people feel the Living Room is one of the most important rooms in their home. Typically, it is used for family time, entertaining, and relaxing. Creating your Dream Living Room can be fun and easy. I decided to write this post to show just how easy it can be to create your dream living room utilizing these decorating tips and furniture and statement pieces from Arhaus.
Seating
When deciding on your seating options, take into consideration the size of the space, layout of your room, and how many people will need to be seated. Don’t feel obligated to purchase each and every piece in a collection. Also, don’t think you have to stick to the traditional sofa, loves seat, and accent chair combination. For my dream living room, I decided to opt for a three-piece sectional from the Lansbury collection in Driscoll Doe. I love the various options of this collection because you can cater the pieces to fit your needs. It comes in three standard colors or you can pick one of 15 custom colors. I opted for a more neutral color. I can have fun adding pops of color with toss pillows, a fun rug, and beautiful window treatments.
Pillows
Now we are to one my favorite decor items… pillows. Your room is not complete without beautiful pillows. I love being creative with patterns, textures, and colors with my pillows. You can also completely transform the appearance of your sitting area by changing the pillows. Don’t forget to check out my tips on How to Keep Your Pillows Looking Fabulous When You Have Pets or Pillows.
Coffee Table/Ottoman
Instead of using a traditional coffee table, I selected a beautiful upholstered ottoman. I particularly loved the Butler 39″ ottoman for several reasons. With a newborn, I do not want any sharp edges, glass tops, or flat wood tops. The trays with this ottoman can be placed on top with decor items, to hold a drink/baby bottle, or neatly stored underneath with a few magazines (or pampers when we aren’t expecting company). I always recommend to my interior design clients to purchase things to fit the needs of their family.
Media Console
The Tremont Large Wall Unit in midnight java is simply divine. This media console is a beautiful accent piece which will make a wonderful statement in my living room. In addition to storing my TV, I can also display beautiful decor accent pieces on the shelves. I love decorating my shelves in odd numbers and also utilizing my accept pops of color.
Lighting
Don’t be afraid to think outside the box with your lighting. You don’t have to settle for a traditional flush mount standard light fixture. The LaCage 8 Light Chandelier is beautiful and functional. It can add a bit of glam to any Dream Living Room.
Window Treatments
Window Treatments are a very important design aspect in your home. It’s an easy and affordable way to bring color into any room. Since my walls and sofa are in natural hues, I wanted to add color with my toss pillows, stationary panels, and rug. I selected the Cotton Sateen Drapes in Slate. Since I have 2 inch wood blinds, I’m only going to use two stationary panels to frame the window.
Hardware
Finish consideration should also be taken when selecting your window treatment hardware. Feel free to ditch the white curtain rods and opt for a set which scream “decor.” I love the Barlow 1″ Bronze End Brackets, Rod, and Square Finials in Bronze. It’s going to be gorgeous and have great contrast next to my slate drapes.
Rug
The right rug can make or break your living room. The days of the traditional monotone boring rugs are over. I love the pattern and texture of this Yiska Slate Hand Knotted Rug. It will make a great addition to my Dream Living Room. It is beautifully accented in slate blue, tan, and accents of gold.
Mirror
No room is complete without a mirror. I love adding mirrors in my designs. Check out my post on 7 Ways to Use Mirrors As Design Elements for tips on how to include mirrors in each room of your home. For my Dream Living Room, the Bodrum Quatrefoil mirror will look divine over my fireplace.
Decor Pieces
Decor pieces are where you can bring your own personality into a space. Decide on things that represent you and your family. I love the decor selection offered by Arhaus. These items will be placed on the fireplace mantel, media console, ottoman, and other places around the room. Experiment with different textures and finishes for a unique look.

Hello! You have not had a problem with the drapery hardware from this company have you? I’d like to purchase the same curtain brackets in an alloy zinc (which is what their brackets are made from) and I just wanted to make sure they were withstanding normal weight curtains before I purchase! Thanks!
Divine Elements of Design says
I have not had any problems. But as always, if you feel you need a little more support, purchase an additional bracket for the middle. Thanks

They are small windows. Ranging from 30″ rod, and largest window at a 54″ rod. I unfortunately haven’t seen reviews for this company so I just wanted to make sure it was of quality. Thank you so much !

For me? Start saving money first. Furnitures are not cheap especially when you’re aiming for your dream set.
Divine Elements of Design says
You are right. Always save and invest in good furniture. I always say that I can’t afford to buy cheap! (If you buy cheap, you have to spend more money to replace it later.)
