Do you want to celebrate fall by bringing fall elements into your home’s decor? Decorating your home for fall doesn’t necessarily require a lot of work or money. Be festive and have fun. Don’t feel obligated to use all 9 tips. Feel free to use only the ones you like. Your home should reflect your individual personality.
1. Fall Centerpieces
Replace your current table centerpieces with a fall themed centerpiece. You don’t have to have a full blown table setting. Use as little or as much decor as you want.
2. Decorate with Fall Pumpkins
Don’t be afraid to decorate with pumpkins. Nothing screams “fall” like pumpkins. Use a mixture of real and faux pumpkins in your home’s decor. Also consider using different colored pumpkins to add additional personality and texture.
3. Fall Window Treatments
Update your window treatments. Your windows can set the tone for your new fall decor. It doesn’t matter if you have stationary panels, wood blinds, or a cornice board. Updating your window treatments for fall is an excellent and effective transformation.
4. Decorate Using Fall Colors
Use fall warm colors. Incorporating these colors may give you a sense of fall. I especially love adding orange, brown, gold, and cream to my living room space. Don’t feel obligated to limit yourself with those colors. Consider using a print such as houndstooth. It can provide a beautiful design accent for a space.

Seasonal items such as dried fruits, dried flowers, or burlap can be used to transform your mantel into a focal point of your living room. Use natural elements such as pine cones, nuts, and leaves to bring the outdoor elements into your home.
6. Update Your Rug
Update your home with a fall rug. Changing or adding a new rug in warm fall colors will “pull together” the entire fall theme of your home. Be creative with various textures and patterns.
7. Don’t Forget Your Bathroom
Replace your bathroom towels and bath mats. Put away those light spring colored towels and display your warm earth tones.
8. Fall Aroma
Add fall candles to create a refreshing aroma in your home. Pumpkin, spice, and apple cider are just a few fall scents to choose from. Using the sense of small can create a welcoming fall home vibe.

9. Replace Your Pillows
Change out the toss pillows on your sofa, loveseat, and accent chairs. This simple and inexpensive task can provide a much needed update to your living room. I highly recommend changing your pillows each season. You don’t have to physically change the pillows. Consider purchasing pillow covers.

I love these ideas! When my boys were little we had so much fun collecting fallen leaves, pinecones, even twigs. And using them to decorate was even more fun. Thank you for the great ideas!

I used to be so good about seasonal decorating, but during the baby/toddler years it dropped off. I need to get back to it!

Yes, it’s funny how our lives change when we have little ones. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world! Include your toddler in decorating, even if it’s just placing pine cones around the living room. 🙂

Really like all these tips. I’m a huge fan of bringing the outside to the inside all year around, but fall is definitely my favourite time for it. There’s something really homey about fall flowers, gourds, pinecones, cedar branches, etc. I really like the tip about changing bath towels and mats- It hadn’t even crossed my mind but my towels are white and baby blue. I may have to get some more autumnal colours!!
