Stress is never good, period. Being stressed can cause weight gain, high blood pressure, hypertension, strokes, and even heart failure if left unchecked. And the fact is, no one is more stressed out than a busy mom. But when you are a stressed-out mom, not only does it take a toll on your physical health, but it can also take a toll on your mental health and your relationship with your children. Check out these 4 ways to reduce stress.
Learn How to Identify When You’re Stressed
If you’re stressed out often enough, then it’s likely that you won’t even realize when you are or are not under a lot of stress—the feeling just becomes your norm. When you lose the ability to realize when and why you are stressed, it becomes especially unhealthy for you.
Every person embodies stress differently, so in order to reduce stress, it’s important to recognize how stress manifests in you. Does your blood pressure rise? Do you raise your voice? Do you cry? Identifying how stress takes a toll on you can help you to recognize when you are becoming stressed, which in turn allows you to know when to calm yourself down.
Mindfulness can also help you identify the source of your stress. If you wake up stressed after a restless night’s sleep, it might be that you need a new mattress. If you work at a computer during the day—whether at home or at an office—and find that you are stressed from eye strain, you might want to look into glare-reducing computer glasses. Some people also simply become stressed as a response to environmental factors like a home that is too cold or too stuffy and hot. In those instances, you’ll want to look into upgrading your air conditioning. By recognizing when you are stressed, you might realize that it’s not just because of how busy you are but adverse factors that you are empowered to change and improve upon.
Take Care of Your Health to Reduce Stress
Taking care of your health can encompass a wide variety of areas in your life, but it all boils down to one thing—when you’re unhealthy, your body will feel stressed out, and in turn, you’ll feel stressed out.
Whether you need to take better care of your teeth by investing in a water flosser, or you need to make a call for a massage appointment, there are any number of factors that influence your health. The good news? You have the power to change your habits and lifestyle to improve your health and reduce stress.
Exercise is also another important component of maintaining health. You’re probably wondering how you’re supposed to find time to exercise in your busy schedule, but it’s crucial that you carve out even 15 minutes a day for some physical exercise. You can also enhance your exercise with protein powders and supplements. And when you’ve done exerting yourself, make sure to minimize the body aches the natural way, with options like Kratom, rather than pharmaceuticals.
There are a lot of ways that you can spend time with your little ones and exercise at once. Bonding and de-stressing at the same time? Yes please!
For those who have kids who are a little bit older, you could go for a bike ride, play soccer, or even do a little yoga. For those with younger kids, why not do 15 minutes of quick and easy exercise or stretching during nap time? Plus, there is always the best form of exercise ever: dancing. Kids are never too old or too young to have a dance party with their mom.
Know When to Ask for Help
Being a mother comes with a lot of pressure to be perfect. Many women think that they have to be able to do it all and do it all perfectly. This is simply an unachievable goal, and trying to be a perfect mom will increase stress levels exponentially.
It is not concession of failure to ask for help. In fact, only the bravest and most self-assured people know when to draw the line and ask for someone else to help them. Being a mother is a multiple-person job—you can’t do it on your own.
Whether you need to drop the kids off at grandma’s for the weekend or have a friend help you pick up dry cleaning, asking for help with even the smallest of tasks can help reduce stress.
Remind Yourself to Laugh
Life goes by so fast, and if you are too busy being stressed about it going perfectly, then you are going to miss all its best parts. One of the best stress-busting methods is to learn how to laugh at life and all its mishaps.
It is scientifically proven that laughing alleviates stress, so watch your favorite funny movie, put on a spontaneous talent show with your kids, or even let loose playing online casino! No matter how you choose to have fun and get a few laughs, it will make you feel like a weight has been taken off your shoulders.
There is no arguing that moms are superheroes—from feeding, dressing, and caring for children, to working jobs, cleaning, cooking, and finding a way to have fun and live their lives. Things for busy moms can definitely get to be a bit overwhelming, but stress is harmful in such a huge variety of ways.
Not only does stress cause health issues such as high blood pressure, weight gain, and certain gastrointestinal issues, but it can also take a toll on mental health as well as your relationship with your children. It can be difficult not to stress out in today’s society, but it is good to remember that there are always things you can do to help you to relax and enjoy being a mom.

It’s hard. I have a 20 year old, 12 year old, and 18 month old. I have to do non traditional exercises. Sometimes I’ll watch dance videos on YT and dance, lift household stuff, etc.. You’ll find a way

I just Bought a membership at a local gym. Getting away from the house and focusing on myself for just 45 minutes makes a huge difference in my attitude. Great tips!

Stress management is so so important! My favorite way to destress has been practicing yoga, it really clears my mind & makes me focus on my movement & breath, instead of what’s bothering me!

I agree, laughter is the best medicine for stress. That is one way that I don’t go insane. I don’t have kids but other life stresses.

Exercise can be so helpful, but it’s so hard to spare the time. It’s a little better now that my older kids are big enough to join in.

Yes, it can seem almost impossible when you have kids. I have three, from 20 years to 18 months… With my busy schedule, I can only do a little. And it’s mostly at home exercises.

Completely agree that moms face incredible amounts of pressure and stress is all too familiar. Mindfulness is something I’m working on… it’s so hard to do but hoping, in time. I’ll get it down.

You will. It just takes time.
